Mowing
During the growing season, your grass can grow as fast as an inch a day. Depending on what type of grass you have, you may need your lawn mowed every five to fourteen days. With regular mowing, grass clippings can be left on the lawn to decrease the amount of fertilizer applications you use, since the clippings have nitrogen in them and act as a natural fertilizer. During the off-season, you can go as long as a couple of months without having your lawn mowed. We'll work with you to determine the best schedule for your specific needs.
Trimming
String trimming is necessary for cutting grass in areas a lawn mower can't reach without doing damage to plants or structures. The most common places for trimming are around trees, mailboxes and other posts as well as along fencelines and building foundations. It's also great for maintaining specialty landscaping designs, like the one pictured to the left.
Edging
Edging the lawn with a power edger creates a tidy appearance around walkways, driveways and curbs. It stops runners of grass from spreading onto these concrete structures, so edging has a practical purpose as well as an aesthetic one.
Mulching
Adding mulch to plant beds enhances the visual appeal of your yard as well as creates a safe environment for the plants' root systems. Mulch acts as insulation from heat and cold as well as inhibits evaporation of soil moisture. We recommend that you mulch all your plant beds as well as make a two-foot barrier around all your trees to reduce competition for soil nutrients. It's advisable to replace or top off your existing mulch every year or two to keep it looking fresh.
Shrub Trimming
The hedges in front of your home greatly contribute to the overall look of your yard. Well-shaped bushes can enhance your curb appeal and give your lawn a neat appearance. We recommend trimming and reshaping your shrubs every three to four months, although it varies from species to species. This is important since overgrown bushes can serve as homes for rats, possums, racoons, spiders and even feral cats.
Pressure Washing
This involves spraying water at high-pressure to clean outdoor surfaces, such as driveways, walkways, curbs, pool decks (and the pool itself, if it's drained), garage floors and roofs. It's also advisable to pressure wash fences and decks before applying stain and sealer. Pressure washing your house can improve the longevity of the siding or surface covering by removing mildew and debris buildup. We use only Simple Green Pressure Washer
Concentrated Cleaning Products because we are environmentally
conscious: these products are non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-acidic and
biodegradable.
Landscaping
We also provide landscaping services if you already have a plan in mind and just need someone to execute it for you. We can clean up your plant beds, pull weeds, install sheets of weed barrier, spread topsoil, plant bushes or flowers and finish it off with a layer of mulch. We can also install landscape edging or border. If you can design it, we'll make it a reality.
Gutter Cleaning
Gutters are installed onto a home to direct the flow of rain water so it doesn't accumulate around your foundation or pour onto your head as you're coming into and out of your home. Leaves and other debris can build up in your gutters and prevent water from being drained properly. If you have a lot of tall trees around your home, you may need to get your gutters cleaned monthly during the rainy season.
Tree Trimming
There are various reasons for trimming your trees periodically. For one, dense branches don't allow sunlight through to nourish your lawn, causing areas where grass won't grow. Trees can be shaped for aesthetic appeal and look best when they have a naturally symmetrical shape to them. Most importantly, dead and diseased trees pose a danger to your family and your guests as well as your roof, since unhealthy branches can fall and damage your property, or worse, a person or pet. We recommend calling us to trim away precarious branches as soon as you notice them. We are capable of trimming branches up to 15 feet from the ground.
Roof Cleaning
Cleaning off your roof periodically is a wise choice if you want to get the longest life out of your roof. Since it's quite costly to get a roof replaced, we recommend getting your roof blown off every so often to avoid rotting and algae formation. Wet leaves can literally rot straight through your shingles and can actually damage the decking, leaving you with a rather large bill to pay. Preventive maintenance is key when it comes to roofs. Keep an eye on your roof and call us when you see black streaks, an accumulation of leaves or tree branches scraping against your shingles.
Clean-up & Debris Removal
We're available to help you get your yard cleaned up and looking nice. From raking and bagging leaves to removing fallen trees, we're at your service. If you have garbage or yard waste pickup service, we'll set everything at the curb for you. If not, we can haul it to the dump and save you a trip.
